New Tour Dates Confirmed

On a recent episode of NPR’s “All Songs Considered,” critic Robin Hilton described being blown away by his personal discovery of Austin artist Walker Lukens’ new record ‘Devoted’:

“We get so much music in, we fall in love with just the tiniest fraction of it really, in the grand scheme of things, and get it on the show… So, I get this CD in by Walker Lukens, I’ve never heard of him…I listened to it, and it was so good. I thought, I’ve got to listen to this again. Maybe I’m just in a really good mood. And nope, it holds up. Even on my worst days, this is a fantastic record.”

USA Today Premieres Title Track From Slaid Cleaves’ New Album ‘Still Fighting The War’ Out June 18

All MP3 Proceeds Benefit Veterans Charity Operation Homefront

In an interview with USA Today this week, renowned Texas songwriter Slaid Cleaves explained the meaning behind the title of his new album ‘Still Fighting the War,’ out June 18 on Music Road Records.

Inspired by a Pulitzer-winning series of photos of an Iraq War veteran suffering from PTSD, the powerful title track addresses the plight of those returning from war and struggling to readjust to society. But as Cleaves tells USA Today, the phrase “still fighting the war” took on a broader meaning when he applied it to the album as a whole.

“As I was putting together all these songs that I had recorded… I saw a little bit of a theme,” he says. “They’re songs about perseverance and holding your head up through hard times.”
